At Norfolk Airport
The security guard is checking me
And I check my son
Who is standing beside me,
Pale and thin, his eyes half closed.
I know he is a risk to security
But I can’t alert the guards.
My son and I both know that soon the
Airplane will take him away
From his life. Already he told me
How far he is determined
To go. I keep my eyes on
Him all the way to our seats.
